March 20, 2018

Parents and Guardians,

With the recent passing of the Education Reform Act, government is moving ahead with the work to unify the education system. I’m writing to reassure you that our ongoing commitment to the students, families and staff of the Tri-County region will continue.

Please be assured by the following:

  • While elected school boards are being dissolved, as of March 31, your local school board offices and staff will remain, and be renamed Regional Centres for Education.
  • You can call your Regional Centre for Education or continue to visit its website with any questions you would have previously contacted your elected school board member about.
  • As well, these Centres will continue to make the same regional and local decisions (such as bussing and snow days) that they do now.

These changes to the educational administrative structure will allow us to focus our resources from administration and governance into classrooms and create a solid foundation for continuous improvements; including increased support for all students through a new model for inclusive education.

We remain committed to providing excellent service and support to our school communities while these changes in our governance are underway. If you have questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us at (902) 749-5696.

I look forward to working with you as we continue to improve programs and services for all the students in Nova Scotia.

Sincerely,

Paul Ash
Superintendent of Schools
Tri-County Regional School Board
