COVID-19 Update April 26, 2021

There were a number of new restrictions announced at today’s COVID-19 provincial briefing. Beginning immediately, the community use of schools is suspended until further notice and any event between two or more schools is cancelled. TCRCE schools are still currently permitted to have afterschool practices/intramurals at their individual school sites, however the maximum participation for indoor activities is 10 participants (players and coaches), and the maximum participation for outdoor activities is 25 participants (players and coaches).

Currently, TCRCE’s schools remain open for in-person learning. According to a number of health experts, in-person schooling remains the best place for children’s social, emotional, physical and mental well-being. With that said, we remain prepared to make the switch to an at home learning model, should we be directed to do so by Public Health.

Understandably, this is an anxious time. Please know, if there’s a case of COVID-19 identified in any of our schools, Public Health will advise us immediately and the school community will then be contacted.

Families who choose to keep their children home will not be receiving special at home work packages. If work is available through google classrooms as part of the teacher’s regular routines, students may access these learning materials. If parents are looking to keep their children home on a long-term basis, they should refer to Nova Scotia’s Office of Homeschooling.
