Due to a road closure a number of Yarmouth School Buses will be subject to delays this afternoon, Tuesday 5th November.

Holiday Break, Visitor Info & Storm Day Process

Dear school community,

We have a number of important updates to share with you today regarding the extension of the holiday break, vaccination requirements for school visitors, and TCRCE’s storm day notification process.

HOLIDAY BREAK

Yesterday, the province of Nova Scotia announced public school students will see their holidays extended by two days. Students will return to class on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, instead of Tuesday, Jan. 4 as originally scheduled. Staff will report to work on Jan. 4 as planned, and staff will focus on professional development.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOOL VISITORS

A reminder that as of Dec. 1, 2021, all visitors (non-TCRCE staff), parents and/or suppliers who come to a school, or TCRCE building, must provide full proof of vaccination (or a medical exception).

Please remember to have your proof of vaccination and an additional identification card (birth certificate, driver’s licence, health card, etc.) available if you plan to visit a school. Thank you for your continued cooperation helping to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, schools, and communities.

STORM DAY NOTIFICATION

With winter weather upon us, families are encouraged to review the notification process and to contact schools directly with changes to their contact information. When there’s a school closure, information is shared in a variety of ways.

Website

Details will be posted to the homepage of our website (www.tcrce.ca) at approximately 6:00 a.m. You may have to refresh your page or clear your cookies to ensure you are getting the latest update. Both school and office closures will be posted here.

Email and text

We will also email and text families to the contact information we have on file. We have a new messaging service this year and if you haven’t already done so, you will need to opt in to receive text messages. To opt in, text “Y” to 978338 from a number on file with a school.

Social media

Check either Facebook or Twitter. We will post there as soon as possible. Both the TCRCE Twitter and Facebook pages can be viewed without having an account. Here are the links: Facebook and Twitter.

News

Listen to or watch the local news. We will inform local news stations of school closures as soon as possible. Please note, technology doesn’t always work so listening to the radio is often the best option.
