Hurricane Lee Preparations

Dear school community,

Our region is expected to receive significant rainfall and hurricane-force winds over the weekend which could impact school opening on Monday, if there are power outages and/or property damage to schools.

an of action and how we will communicate with you on Sunday. Before then though, does your child have any items at school that they will need at home in the event their school is closed? If so, they should bring those home when they leave school tomorrow (Sept. 15/23).

Due to the forecasted storm, TCRCE will be closing all schools to the public and cancelling all extra-curricular/community activities this weekend (Saturday, Sept. 16 and Sunday, Sept. 17).

We continue to follow the path of Hurricane Lee closely and have plans in place to inspect all of our buildings following the storm and make decisions about Monday opening, if necessary.

Plan of Action

In advance of the storm, our Operations staff is working with school staff to ensure all of our buildings are secure.

Once the storm passes and it is safe, staff will check schools to determine if there are any impacts on our ability to open on Monday. This will include speaking with Nova Scotia Power, provincial, and municipal emergency officials.

We will send you another update by the end of the day on Sunday.

How will we let you know about impacts?

As we do with any school cancellation, information is shared to multiple sources. Please remember, technology doesn’t always work, especially if there are power outages, and we encourage you to check various places for information.

If there are any impacts (delays or cancellations) to a school or schools, you can expect to find the information in the following ways:

Again, we will be sending you an update on Sunday. Take care and stay safe this weekend.
