We are excited to share TCRCE’s System Improvement Plan with you. The plan outlines where TCRCE currently is in a number of areas, and our plan to improve. This is a first iteration, meaning that we see the plan as a ‘live’ document that will adapt to feedback we receive. As we monitor and measure the results of our actions, we will use the evidence we collect to adjust the plan accordingly.

A message from Dr. Chris Boulter, TCRCE Regional Executive Director.
I wanted to sincerely thank all Tri-County students, staff and parents/guardians for a great 2018-19. I’m grateful to have joined TCRCE at the start of April, and am really looking forward to starting my first full year in the Region in September. I would like to congratulate all of the TCRCE high school graduates who are sure to discover new and exciting opportunities for years to come.
Our goal is to provide TCRCE students the tools and support needed to succeed. In addition to the incredible work from our teachers and staff, the Province continues to invest in student supports. That’s why I’m happy to share that this marks the 6th year in a row that the overall budget for education in our Region has increased.
Here’s a look at what these investments mean for TCRCE students come September:
- Class caps will stay in place for Grades P-12 to keep class sizes small
- An increase in non-teaching positions (detailed below)
- Access to the Reading Recovery program to provide specialized support to any Grade 1 student struggling with reading
- Access to SchoolsPlus for each school to connect students and families to social work, justice, mental health and recreation services
- Access to Pre-Primary for every 4 year old in our Region
Below, you will find a link to more information about TCRCE’s budget for the 2019-20 school year.
As mentioned above, there are many new initiatives and supports that we are looking forward to in TCRCE for the coming year. From the Commission on Inclusive Education report, we are receiving 18 new positions in the Region. In addition, we are expanding our Alternate Program to include 4 additional positions for the coming year. This funding also comes from the Commission on Inclusive Education.
I’m also pleased to announce that we will be one of two Regions in the Province to initiate the Technology Advantage Program (TAP) this coming Fall. This is a tremendous opportunity for the Region, and comes with three additional positions to support student learning.
As many of you know, we will be opening the new Yarmouth Elementary School in September. This state-of-the-art facility will be a great addition to the Region. We will also be opening a new Skills Trades building at Digby Regional High School, which will enhance learning opportunities in the area. Finally, as noted above, I am happy to report that all schools in TCRCE will have access to the Pre-Primary program starting next year.
I wish you a safe and restful summer, and look forward to working with you in the Fall. Should you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All the best.
