Ignite and TCRCE Launch “Igniting Success Youth Entrepreneurial Program” to Foster Innovation Amongst Junior High and High School Students

Ignite, in collaboration with the Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) is thrilled to announce the launch of the Igniting Success Youth Entrepreneurial Program. This exciting initiative aims to introduce junior high and high school students to entrepreneurship and innovation by providing them with the unique opportunity to develop and pitch their business ideas.

For the kickoff program students working individually or in groups, will conceptualize and develop innovative business ideas from any sector or industry. Potential topics include the ocean, technology, health innovation, and tourism. Those participants will be guided to develop their concept from idea stage through to a comprehensive business plan, and then present it in a five-minute pitch video. Those videos will be scored by a panel of judges on March 7th.  The NSCC is providing prize money to the top three finishers – $500 for first, $300 for second and $200 for third. Additionally, Ignite will offer 6 months of mentorship to the winner and 3 months of mentorship to the second and third place finishers, giving them a unique opportunity to build their concept further and to learn the basics of putting a business together.

Ignite has developed a series of videos for the program designed to show youth how to develop a business idea, as well as supplying mentorship and coaching on an individual basis.

Doug Jones, CEO of Ignite Atlantic commented, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Igniting Success Program. At the heart of this we believe that by providing our youth with the opportunities to explore entrepreneurship and innovation we are not just educating them; we are actively laying the foundation for the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. This program is more than an educational venture; it’s a commitment to the future, ensuring that creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial spirit is passed on to those who will lead us tomorrow.”

Jared Purdy, TCRCE’s Regional Executive Director said, “This initiative is an exciting opportunity for TCRCE students to gain real-world entrepreneurial experience. Ignite has a wealth of knowledge to share and I’m confident that the students who participate will gain valuable business skills that will benefit them long after they’ve graduated, and far into their next chapter.”

The Igniting Success Youth Entrepreneurial Program is open to all youth in the TCRCE area in grades 7 through 12. Video submissions will be accepted until March 3rd.
